Beloveds, I invite you to walk with Jesus and each other throughout Holy Week by participating in worship services here at Saint Paul’s Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, and Good Friday offer a liturgical experience of the final days of Jesus’ life on earth, leading up to his Resurrection. Holy Week begins on Palm Sunday (April 13,) and includes Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and the Saturday before Easter.

Early followers of Jesus observed the week before Easter as a time of special devotion. Pilgrims in Jerusalem, (as recorded by Egeria in the late fourth century), visited many sacred places for worship and devotion. They followed the path of Jesus during his final days, participating in processions and worshipping at sites where Christ suffered and died. Holy Week is also a time of preparation for Easter Sunday. To more fully enter into the joy and meaning of Jesus’ resurrection, we are called to remember Christ’s triumphal entry into Jerusalem, Christ’s Last Supper with his disciples, and his suffering and death on the cross. I ask you to consider committing to attend worship on these days.
