In the Anglican Cycle of Prayer, we pray for the The Episcopal Church.
In the Diocesan Cycle of Prayer, we pray for those who participated in the General Convention of the Episcopal Church July 7-14 in Baltimore. We pray for all who will attend ECMN camps, and all embarking on mission projects during the summer. We also pray for the Samuel Memorial Mission (Naytahwaush).

Mirzada Family Update: Your help is needed and appreciated!
Saint Paul’s Church, Saint John’s Linden Hills, and Saints Luke and James have been working with the Minnesota Council of Churches to help the Mirzada family transition to their new life in Minneapolis after airlifting from Afghanistan last year. Their current lease expires at the end of July, and the family will be relocating to the Otsego area where they have family and other friends from Afghanistan. We will miss them, but support and celebrate their decision to be closer to their loved ones!
Mirzada Family Daily Life
The family’s transition to life in the United States is progressing quickly. The six children completed the last two months of the school year in Minneapolis Public Schools, and several are registered for summer school. They have recently discovered the summer joys of enjoying the pool at nearby Waite Park, and parades on Central Avenue. The family is learning English, how to shop for groceries, visit the doctor, use public transportation, etc., receiving guidance from members of Saint John’s. Mr. Mirzada has a part time job at a grocery store. The family is working closely with an immigration attorney.
Background Information on Immigration Status
Unlike refugees, our Afghan friends are in the United States as “humanitarian parolees”, granting them a unique opportunity to apply for asylum or other immigration relief in the United States. Federal funding allocated to support Afghan parolees terminates at the end of six months—one of the reasons the Mirzadas’ lease is ending here in Minneapolis. At the end of July, the Mirzada Family will be responsible for the majority of their own housing expenses.
As a collaborative effort, Saint Paul’s, Saint John’s, Saints Luke and James, and Spirit of the Wilderness in Grand Marais would like to assist the Mirzadas with housing stability in Otsego while they find jobs and get their children settled in new schools. Given the size of the Mirzada family, their rental housing costs will be approximately $2000 per month. Our four-parish fundraising goal is $15,000. Individual donors from each parish have already offered a total of $7,500. Would you help match that amount?
You can donate securely on Realm here, with the memo “Mirzada family”. You can also place a check or cash (“Mirzada family” on the memo line/envelope) in the collection plate this Sunday. It would help greatly to submit your donations by Thursday, July 21. Designated offerings will be sent to the Minnesota Council of Churches for dispersal to the family. If you have any questions, please contact Rev. Janet MacNally.
