Prayer Calendar

In the Anglican Cycle of Prayer, we pray for the Church of the Province of Central Africa.

In the Diocesan Cycle of Prayer, we pray for Province VI of The Episcopal Church. We also pray for those who serve on the Council as Mission Area Team members, the Trustees, the Standing Committee, the Commission on Ministry, the Chancellors, and for the Treasurer of the Episcopal Church in Minnesota.

Pray for migrants, refugees, and displaced people throughout the world. Pray also for those in our country who have been taught to fear or hate people different than they are.

We are asked to reflect and devote prayers in honor and appreciation of 400 years of African American history and culture. Read more about this anniversary request from our Presiding Bishop.

Our weekly Parish Prayer List can be found here.
If you wish to be visited by a member of our Pastoral Care Team (including our rector or deacon), request prayers for yourself or someone else on the Parish Prayer List, or simply make someone aware of an acute or ongoing need, please e-mail care@stpaulsmpls.org.

This list is maintained to assist you in praying for the parish and the larger community throughout the week. To add your friend or loved one to this list, e-mail Deacon Barbara with your request and any additional details: barbara@stpaulsmpls.org. Your request will be shared with our pastoral care team, as well as Saint Paul’s clergy.

Our votive candle stand is a beautiful symbol of our collective prayers coming into the light of Christ. When you light a votive, please consider leaving a contribution to help fund this amenity.

Faith in Action

Joyce Uptown Food Shelf joyfully receives Saint Paul’s weekly donations. We will continue our Advent/Christmas practice of using the blue Advent Calendar bag (available in the Narthex) through Epiphany as well. Following the guide sheet inside, collect and bless one item each day. Drop off your donations in the bins at Saint Paul’s as needed.

We URGENTLY need drivers: It’s just a one-month commitment (once a week!) to deliver food shelf contributions to the Joyce Uptown Food Shelf. The 2020 sign-up sheet is posted on the bulletin board next to the nursery. Because drop-off hours are limited (M-F 1:00-3:45pm, Th 5:00-6:45pm), this is a perfect opportunity for those who live close to church and have daytime availability. Contact Laurie Larsen with questions: 612-849-1348. Let’s fill the calendar!

Upcoming Events

15 FEBRUARY:Commission Saturday THIS SATURDAY 9-11am: All commissions will meet to review their spring activities. The Rev. Susan Moss will attend to gain an understanding of the work of each commission. If you are not currently on a commission but would like to be, you are welcome to join us!

16 FEBRUARY: Want to read a really Good Book? Consider joining the group of curious minds meeting to explore the Gospel of John. The conversation continues after Coffee Hour on most Sundays in February and into March. Contact Deacon Barbara  to add your name to the roster.

17 FEBRUARY: LIVE from Saint Paul’s Church on the shores of beautiful Lake of the Isles, it’s your monthly Vestry meeting! The business meeting of the parish will transpire from 7:00-9:00pm in the Bishop Thurston Room. All are welcome to attend.

22 FEBRUARY: A team is being assembled to volunteer at Open Arms from 10am-12noon next month. Look for the sign-up sheet on the bulletin board by the Nursery. Contact Mary Neal with questions, or to add your name to the roster.

23 FEBRUARY:
Deforestation of the Chancel will occur after Eucharist, and many hands make light (about 10 minutes) work of removing trees, gravel, and debris as we prepare our worship space for the start of Lent. Please gather swiftly in the choir stalls after the postlude to lend a hand.

An all-parish meeting will be held in the Kellogg Room after the liturgy and deforestation to learn more about the creative visioning work being done by the Reverend Susan Moss. Please make every effort to join us!

General Announcements

Norm Mitchell’s presentation for Saint Paul’s fourth Master Classevent was postponed because of last week’s snowstorm. Please watch the Upcoming Events calendar above for rescheduling info.
In the bleak midwinter our Sexton does his best to have the sanctuary heated for us all to be comfortable during worship. At present, our heating system is not 100% operational and, on especially cold days, it may feel less comfortable. Please be assured that work is being done to resolve the issue, and thanks in advance for your cheerfulness and patience.
We have room in our lovely Beim House for several officing tenants. If you know of any non-profit organizations in need of space (up to four offices), contact Senior Warden Beth Carlson.
The Episcopal House of Prayer in the City invites all to join for their weekly Contemplative Prayer Practice each Monday at 6:30pm in the Auxiliary Classroom. If you are new and would like an orientation, feel free to come at 6:00pm.

Food Shelves

Have you taken the Saint Paul’s Food Shelf Challenge?

The need for grocery assistance never wanes. Let’s fill the baskets each week!!
