This Sunday at Saint Paul's

Your Weekly E-pistle for Sunday 07 October 2018

This week begins the “Generous Grace” sermon series and our annual Stewardship Drive. You are invited to worship each week in October to learn and experience how God’s generosity towards us invites us to do the same for others. We are also collecting names to be included in our All Saints prayers; they may be added to the list near the Baptismal Font.

Groveland and Joyce Uptown Food Shelves joyfully receive Saint Paul’s weekly donations. Back by popular demand, October’s collection theme is commonly used baking ingredients and spicesm(flour, sugar, baking soda, cinnamon, and the like). Please bring items to church as part of your weekly offering, and place them in the baskets found in the Narthex.

Thank you to the Worship Committee for hosting Coffee Hour; next week, the Outreach Commission.

The Chapel furniture will be moved after the liturgy to prepare for painting and our inaugural WONDER Eucharist. Many hands will make this transition safe and quick, and we’d appreciate your help! E-mail Kelly Belanger to let him know you plan to pitch in.

WONDER Eucharist, our monthly liturgy for wiggly young worshipers and their families, begins Sunday at 3:00 pm. This service will include stories, opportunities for play, interactive music, and sacrament, held on each first Sunday.

Upcoming Events and General Announcements

An update on the Sanctuary Renewal Project can be found here. We’re almost there, Saint Paulites!!

Father Halley will be present at Saint Paul’s for office hours on Mondays and Wednesdays, 9:00am-5:00pm. To make an appointment during those times, please call or e-mail him directly, or use his calendly link; evening appointments or appointments on Tuesdays and Thursdays can be made at his discretion.

Socialize with your pewmates! This year’s Cottage Groups are now forming, and will start meeting in October. Up to eight people will meet at a residence to share a meal and get to know one another better; by the end of the night, the next meeting is scheduled with the goal that everyone will take a turn hosting over the next nine months. Cost is minimal, but the experience is priceless! Sign up during Coffee Hour in the next two weeks, or contact Kathy Kullberg (612-374-4456).

WONDER Eucharist, our monthly liturgy for wiggly young worshipers and their families, begins on 7 October at 3:00 pm. This service will include stories, opportunities for play, interactive music, and sacrament. Please bring the little ones in your life to this service held on each first Sunday at 3:00 pm.

Grow your faith and sign up for The Path, Youth Confirmation, The Apostle Paul Class, and more! Sign-up sheets for Faith Formation classes can be found at any information center around the church (underneath the announcement monitors).

Fall Clean-Up Day is scheduled for Saturday, 27 Octoberbeginning at 9:00am. Partake in all your favorite fall activities: raking, trimming, cleaning, etc (indoor tasks will be available for those who prefer). Saint Paul’s has a limited number of yard tools for use, but feel free to bring your own. Please sign up ahead of time so we know how many lunches to prepare. If the weather foils our plans, look for a reschedule on 3 November.

Please join us for Commitment Sunday on 28 October where we will celebrate the generosity of our community with board games, crafts, fellowship, and food.

Bigger Hearts Philanthropy Party: You are invited (and encouraged to invite family and friends) to a community celebration of mission on Sunday, 4 November at 4:00pm. This party will feature three of our mission partners –Downtown Congregations to End Homelessness, Hennepin County Library, and Joyce Uptown Foodshelf– and opportunities to support small projects. Microphilanthropy is based on the idea that many people making small donations can make a huge difference. The party itself is free and will include food, fellowship, and music.

The Episcopal House of Prayer in the City invites all to join for their weekly Contemplative Prayer Practice each Monday at 6:30pm in the Auxiliary Classroom. Whether you are looking for a way to revitalize your prayer life or just searching for space and quiet, pray-ers of all abilities are welcome. If you are new and would like an orientation, feel free to come at 6:00 pm.

Change is in the air this fall. Bishop Brian Prior released an important announcement last week you can read here.
