This Sunday at Saint Paul's

Your Weekly E-pistle for Sunday 23 December 2018

The Office of Morning Prayer is said each Sunday from 8:00-8:30am in the Chapel. All are welcome.

Our Advent journey concludes this week in The Way of Love: Practices for Jesus-Centered Life. Find at-home practices for Advent 4 here.

Thank you to the Finance Commission for hosting Coffee Hour on Sunday, and the Parish Life Commission for hosting on Christmas Eve; next week, the Worship Committee.

Hands to Service

Groveland and Joyce Uptown Food Shelves joyfully receive Saint Paul’s weekly donations. December’s theme is SOUP (cans, cartons, mixes, etc); they also have ongoing need of personal care products. Please bring items to church as part of your weekly offering, and place in baskets in the Narthex. We are also in need of volunteers to deliver donations each month; details and the 2019 sign-up can be found on the bulletin board by the Nursery.

Saint Paul’s Vestry is searching for candidates to serve two-year terms as Vestry members. The Vestry –the lay governing board of the church– works in tandem with the Rector to set the agenda for the church’s mission and ministry. We meet monthly, and each member also serves as liaison to a commission. If you a baptized member of Saint Paul’s Church, you are eligible and welcome to serve. You may speak to either Warden (Jacob McCray-Reeves or Meredith Johnson), Jill Westendorp, or Jim Huismann.

Upcoming Events and General Announcements

15 JANUARY: Join us for Growing in Prayer, our next Tuesday Night Theology Class at 6:30pm. Classes will include information and prayer practice. 27 JANUARY: The Annual Meeting of Saint Paul’s Church is scheduled in the Community Room (Undercroft) after the liturgy. Commission reports, budget, and other summaries of our parish life in 2018 will be shared. Please plan on attending – you ARE the church!

Father Marcus will be taking vacation starting 25 December (after the 10:00am liturgy, of course), and will be back in the office on 6 January. During this period, please email pastoral needs that may arise to [email protected].

Our Stewardship Campaign is coming to a close. We are currently at over $157,000 in pledges for 2019 with a few (8) follow ups yet to be made. Every pledge is important and helps us to partner with God’s mission in our culture and context. If you have not renewed your pledge for 2019, please do so by filling out a pledge form or contacting our Finance Secretary, Brad Lien.

The Year in Pictures won’t be complete without your help! Do you have photos of yourself and other Saint Paulites participating in activities at church, or out having fellowship in our community? Email them to Angie to be included in our photo archive and possibly our 2018 memory video, which will debut at the Annual Meeting on 27 January (see announcement above).

The Episcopal House of Prayer in the City invites all to join for their weekly Contemplative Prayer Practice each Monday at 6:30pm in the Auxiliary Classroom. Whether you are looking for a way to revitalize your prayer life or just searching for space and quiet, pray-ers of all abilities are welcome. If you are new and would like an orientation, feel free to come at 6:00 pm.
