Working with Temple Israel to Address Homelessness

February 19, 2017 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm CST

Special guests from Temple Israel: Rabbi Sim Glaser, preacher, and Dean Goldberg, presenter Program about joint ministry between Temple Israel and Saint Paul’s. Sponsored by the Outreach Commission.

Mark your calendars and plan to be at Saint Paul’s on Sunday, 19 February, as we focus on the problem of homelessness in our neighborhood and how we can become involved in helping both in the short term and by working for long-term solutions. Our Outreach Commission has been in conversation with Temple Israel about the programs and ministries they are already engaged in — and we will be joining forces with them to strengthen this effort.

On 19 February, Rabbi Sim Glaser from Temple Israel will offer the sermon in our morning liturgy. The service will be followed by a special coffee hour in the undercroft (hosted by the choir), and a 15-minute slide presentation by Mr. Dean Goldberg of Temple Israel’s outreach leadership. There will be time for questions and discussion. The entire morning will focus on practical ways we can get involved with Minneapolis shelters and advocacy groups. This is an exciting opportunity for Saint Paul’s, both because it addresses a very real and persistent need in our community, and because it is an interfaith initiative. We are excited to be partnering with Temple Israel and other faith communities in our neighborhood, to strengthen our bonds as people of faith, and to work together for good in our community. To learn more or ask questions, please talk with Prisca Cushman, Steve Clarke, or Steve Briggs.
