The Last Sunday after the Epiphany — 26 February (moveable date). The date of this Sunday, the last Sunday before Lent starts, depends on the date of Easter, which is a “moveable feast.” This year Easter is fairly late, (April 16), so we are having a longer Epiphany season. Always on the last Sunday after the Epiphany we focus on Jesus’s transfiguration on the mountain, as he dazzled with brightness and appeared with Elijah and Moses, being revealed in his full divinity. This is our last opportunity for “Alleluias” until Easter.
We’ll also observe the last feasting before Lent, as the Men’s Group hosts a pancake breakfast at coffee hour. We also bid farewell to Rev. Lydia who will celebrate this finale liturgy as our Transition Priest.
