Prayer Calendar
In the Anglican Cycle of Prayer, we pray for the Church of the Province of South East Asia.
In the Diocesan Cycle of Prayer, we pray for all hospital chaplaincies, counseling chaplaincies, and Spiritual Directors throughout the Episcopal Church in Minnesota; our faith community’s nurses, health ministers, and all those who minister to the sick; and all farmers and laborers working with the harvest, especially San Jose Obrero Mission in Montgomery. We also pray for the parish of Calvary (Rochester).
Pray for migrants, refugees, and displaced people throughout the world. Pray also for those in our country who have been taught to fear or hate people different than they are.
Our Parish Prayer List can be found here.
If you wish to be visited by a member of our Pastoral Care Team (including our rector or deacon), request prayers for yourself or someone else on the Parish Prayer List, or simply make someone aware of an acute or ongoing need, please e-mail [email protected].
This list is maintained to assist you in praying for the parish and the larger community throughout the week. To add your friend or loved one to this list, e-mail Deacon Barbara with your request and any additional details: [email protected]. Your request will be shared with our pastoral care team, as well as Saint Paul’s clergy.

Hands to Service
Groveland and Joyce Uptown Food Shelves joyfully receive Saint Paul’s weekly donations. Our theme for August will be personal care products. Please bring items to church as part of your weekly offering, and place in baskets in the Narthex.
Step up to the Food Shelf Challenge: Bring EIGHT items in over the course of the eighth month – let’s fill the baskets each week!!
Saint Paul’s and The Bridge for Youth are working together this summer to manage a small garden in their backyard. So far, we have done a major clean-up and planted some veggies. We are working with a youth coordinator to plan the summer, including additional plantings and a sculpture contest. If you’d like to join us, please contact Prisca Cushman.
Downtown Congregations to End Homelessness (DCEH) is collecting new and gently used adult luggage, bags, and backpacks for our summer goods drive campaign through Labor Day. Drop off your donations in the large white box in the Narthex.
Jefferson Community School will once again be the recipient of our school supply drive! Download the shopping list here (note: no backpacks this year), and drop off your donations at the collection table in the Narthex on Sundays during August.
Upcoming Events
3 AUG: Saint Paul’s Parish Planning Day is being postponed, and rescheduled for some time in early fall.
Read the letter from our Vestry Wardens here.
4 AUG: Saint Paul’s Summer Book Club meets for brunch after the first liturgy of each month to discuss a book selected and read in advance; July’s is The God Who Sees: Immigrants, the Bible, and the Journey to Belong by Karen Gonzales. Contact Father Marcus to put your name on the roster, then pick up the book and dive in!
7 AUG: Saint Lydia’s Circle, a prayerful ministry of the older and wiser women of our parish, will meet this week (and all first Wednesdays) at 1:00pm in the Bishop Kellogg Room. You are invited to bring a bag lunch and join us.
15 AUG: Submission deadline for the fall issue of The Messenger is the 15th of the month preceding publication (that’d be August, for publication in September). Be generous with your creativity and show Saint Paul’s some love with your photos, articles, and events to come this season.
TBA SEPT: Saint Paul’s Summer Book Club will meet for the last time in September to discuss August’s book selection, One Coin Found: How God’s Love Stretches to the Margins by Minneapolis pastor and author Emmy Kegler. If you are interested in joining us (and discussing it with the author herself!), contact Father Marcus to be added to the roster, pick up the book, and dive in.
