E-pistle for Sunday 20 May 2018

Saint Paul's ChurchChurch News, E-PISTLE

I-94 and Hennepin/Lyndale Avenues are going to be closed in our corner of downtown for the next three weekends. Please see this site for details, and plan your scenic route to church accordingly.
Happy Spring, everyone!

This Sunday at Saint Paul’s:

Our Pentecost liturgy begins as a congregational procession starting in the narthex and, while chanting the hymn Veni Creator Spiritus, takes us to various stations in the church to hear readings appointed for the day. Music by Healey Willan, Eugène Gigout, and an improvised soundscape based on a passage from Acts: “And suddenly from heaven there came a sound like the rush of a violent wind… divided tongues, as of fire, appeared among them, and a tongue rested on each of them.”

Commission Saturday is THIS SATURDAY, 19 May. Please click this link to read more about it, and to register online.

Save the Date! Our annual Spring Clean-Up day is fast approaching. Please put 2 June on your calendar, and watch this space for details from the Building & Grounds Commission.

Groveland and Joyce Uptown Food Shelves joyfully receive Saint Paul’s weekly donations of personal care and non-perishable food. Please bring items to church as part of your weekly offering, and place in the baskets at the Narthex doors. Thank you!

The painting project Listening Committee’s Week Four report can be read here. Thank you to everyone who provided feedback during the process.

YouthLink is opening new doors in Minneapolis: Their new downtown center serving homeless youth is celebrating its grand opening with an open house next Tuesday 15 May from 4:00-6:00pm. Read more details and RSVP.

Father Marcus’s Open Office hours are suspended for two weeks, but will resume on 9 May at Common Roots Cafe (2558 Lyndale Ave South). You are invited to join him Wednesdays from 10am-1pm for coffee and conversation. A more confidential meeting can be scheduled by calling the church, or using Calendly.

If you missed any of Father Marcus’s sermons (or wish to revisit one that spoke to you), you can find them on his Word Made FRESH podcast on your Apple device, or Pocketcasts on Android; print versions are accessible on his blog of the same name, and in the Sermons section of this website.

Beautiful Music as Always

Thank you to the Faith Formation Commission for hosting Coffee Hour this week.

Next week, the entire parish is invited to bring a treat!

Coffee Hour will be an opportunity for faith formation for all generations throughout Lent. We will journal, play games, dance, plant gardens in the Undercroft – all while reflecting on what it means to be a Christian. You are invited to bring your whole family each week to share in this experience with us.
