This Sunday at Saint Paul’s:
Food and personal care items are collected each Sunday and delivered to Groveland Food Shelf’s ministry to homeless youth. Please consider bringing an item or two weekly as part of your offering.
Thank you to the Outreach Commission for hosting today’s coffee hour. Next up: Parish Life Commission.
Get your theater tickets! Join other Saint Paulites on Sunday 18 September for the 1:00 PM performance of Home Street Home: Minneapolis at the Guthrie Theater. Tickets are just $9, and are available from JoAnne Tierney this Sunday at church. Click here for more information our field trip on 18 September.
Calling all willing volunteers: We have the chance to earn up to $1300 if we serve as election judges here at Saint Paul’s for the General Election on Tuesday 8 November. Could you work one or two 4-hour shifts? Sign up TODAY on the credenza. This is a great opportunity to fulfill civic duty while also raising funds for our faith community.
Do you take “The Sunday Paper”? The Faith Formation Commission is providing activity sheets for children which follow the Sunday lectionary. They come in two flavors –Junior and Intermediate– and are available in the nursery and the Narthex (back of the church by the bulletins).
In the Anglican Cycle of Prayer, we pray for The Anglican Church of Tanzania.
In the Diocesan Cycle of Prayer, we pray for Episcopal Homes of Minnesota and all other institutions that do ministry for and with the elderly; for local senior residential facilities and care centers; and for the 159th Annual Convention of the Episcopal Church in Minnesota to be held September 16-17 in Faribault. We also pray for the parish of Grace Church (Wabasha).
On our Parish Prayer List, we pray for Dolores, Joe, John, Marianne & Gary, Mary, Mildred, Nancy, Stuart, and the Paulson family.
Upcoming Events and General Announcements:
11 September’s 10:00 a.m. service will feature a Blessing of the Backpacks. All teachers and students are invited to bring their book bags for a blessing as the new school year begins. Please see this announcement from the Outreach Committee about how you can help a student in Minneapolis start the new school year on the right foot.
Be sure to check out the Ministry Fair following the service on 11 September. Booths and displays from all our commissions and groups will help every Saint Paulite know more about this vibrant community and how each person might be involved. There will be opportunities to sign up for whatever makes your heart sing: from acolytes to outreach, gardening, and more.
Help Wanted! The Buildings and Grounds Commission is looking for a few people to help with staining and/or planing of several doors around the church. Schedule is flexible and the work is rewarding. If you would like to help, please speak to or contact Beth Carlson.
A church-wide Treasure Hunt will be held on 25 September after the worship service. Learn about the building and what we do in the various rooms. What’s in them? What are the rooms called? Why do we have special furniture and other churchy things? Adults and children will work in teams to find treasures and fill in the treasure map.
Sing Out! is a monthly gathering to sing and/or experience wonderful music, held at the Heritage Park Senior Services Center in Minneapolis. An open invitation and its details can be seen here.
Help beautify our sanctuary for worship: Give altar flowers to mark important occasions or significant events in your life. Write us a note or email, telling us your name, the date you wish to give flowers, and your desired dedication. Checks should be made out to Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church, with “altar flowers” in the memo; suggested donation is $50.
