E-pistle for Friday 28 April 2017

Saint Paul's ChurchChurch News, E-PISTLE

This Sunday at Saint Paul’s:

Thank you to the Choir for hosting coffee hour. Next week: the Building & Grounds Commission.

The Pastoral Care Team will meet after the liturgy today. Please secure your treats and beverage, then join us up the stairs in the Bishop Thurston Room.

Food and personal care items are collected each Sunday in the baskets at the Narthex doors and delivered to Groveland Food Shelf’s ministry to homeless youth. Please consider bringing an item or two weekly as part of your offering. Our April theme is BABIES: Imagine being a young parent or grandparent of a baby, and not having enough to feed yourself or your family; what would you want to find at Groveland? Please consider diapers, formula, pacifiers, baby food, teething cookies – whatever a baby might need, any size or type. There is also continuing need of paper, plastic, and reusable bags. Thanks to Ashley for delivering during April.

Hospitality 101: Hello, My Name Is…
If you’ve been to Sunday liturgies the past few weeks, you may have noticed the return of the name tag board; you might even say it has been “resurrected.” It has returned to help our new rector learn our names, and to create a more intentionally welcoming environment for people visiting our parish. If you haven’t already, please make a name tag when you next arrive at church, wear it during services and coffee hours, and then hang it under the initial of your last name so you can find it next week.

Choir Diary

  • Voluntary: Te Deum (Raymond Weidner)
  • Psalm: Psalm 116 (Peter Hallock)
  • Anthem: Christ hath a garden (Gerald Near)
  • Voluntary: O filii et filiæ (Lynnwood Farnam)

Upcoming Events and General Announcements:

Our Church-wide Spring Cleaning and Picnic will be held on Saturday 27 May from 10am-2pm. Look for more details in upcoming E-pistles, but plan on lots of fellowship, a tasty picnic, and a little spring cleaning to help Saint Paul’s shine. Mark your calendars now!

Are you in the new online membership directory? Email notifications were sent to every Saint Paulite, inviting you to create an account for accessing your personal record with Realm, our new online church management system. Be sure to adjust your privacy settings so fellow parishioners can see your contact information. And don’t forget to add your photo – it’s a great way for people (like a new rector) to learn your name! See Angie and her laptop during coffee hour with any questions.

Saint Paul’s has a new tax number. If you are carrying and using a copy of the old certificate, see Jacob Manier for a new one.

A gentle reminder: If you would like to use the kitchen at Saint Paul’s, please remember to check its availability by consulting the calendar outside the kitchen, and then sign up to use the space. We have had some overbooking recently, and would like to avoid any confusion. Thank you!

A free Home Safety Check for senior citizens is offered by the Household & Outside Maintenance for Elderly (HOME) Program of Senior Community Services. They will assess the need for handrails, grab-bars, smoke detectors, lighting, and other home safety components. Elders aged 60+ residing in suburban Hennepin County and Minneapolis are eligible for this limited time offer. No sales. For more information call HOME at 952-746-4046 or email. Seniors outside of Hennepin County should contact the Senior Linkage Line at 1-800-333-2433 for information about services in their area.
