Thank you, Angie Paulson for your creativity!
This Sunday at Saint Paul’s:
Groveland and Joyce Uptown Food Shelves receive Saint Paul’s weekly donations of personal care and non-perishable food. Please bring items to church as part of your weekly offering, and place in the baskets at the Narthex doors. We are in need of parishioners to deliver our collection to the food shelf each week. Please sign up in the Narthex for a one-month commitment. Thank you!
Thank you to the Altar Guild for hosting today’s Coffee Hour; next week, the Building & Grounds Commission.
Our Lenten liturgical rehearsal will be held on Saturday 24 February from 10am-12noon. We will address everything from hospitality and welcome in the Narthex, to setting the table and distributing communion at the altar rail. As such, everyone (greeters, ushers, lectors, intercessors, Eucharistic ministers, crucifers) is invited to attend.
Lenten Discipleship Class: Do you wonder why there are two candles on the altar? Ever wonder why we have two sacraments instead of seven? And what the heck is a ciborium? More importantly: what does it mean to be a disciple of Jesus Christ? We will gather for Discipleship 101, a class on Christian discipleship, on Tuesdays during Lent beginning on 20 February from 6:30-8:00pm. This class will feature an Instructed Eucharist as well as group reflection on Rowan Williams’s Being Christian. For more information or to RSVP, please e-mail Father Halley.
YouthLink’s Black History Month Celebration is back! It will be taking place in their new space on Wednesday, 28 February, from 1:30-4:00pm. This BHM event is a wonderful support to dozens of youth experiencing homelessness in our midst.
Coffee Hour will be an opportunity for faith formation for all generations throughout Lent. We will journal, play games, dance, plant gardens – all while reflecting on what it means to be a Christian. You are invited to bring your whole family each week to share in this experience with us.
Painting news: We are excited to share more details about how the proposed painting project of the nave will enhance our worship of God. Please note that, for now, this is only a proposal; in the coming weeks, you will see the full proposal for the project including colors, cost, and rationale. The feedback of the whole church will be solicited before a final decision is made. Please feel free to address any questions or comments to Father Marcus.
Another update for your address book: As of the new year, Father Marcus has changed his cell phone number to 612.816.7253; his former number is no longer in service.
Open Office Hours are moving to Wednesday mornings from 10:00am-1:00pm through Pentecost. They will also be “on the move,” rotating through a few coffee shops around Minneapolis. For the month of February (except Ash Wednesday), you are invited to join our Rector at Dunn Bros. Coffee (2528 Hennepin Ave) for a cup on him. As always, if you need to schedule a confidential meeting, you can call the church or email Father Marcus directly.
