E-pistle for Friday 2 June 2017

Saint Paul's ChurchChurch News, E-PISTLE

This Sunday at Saint Paul’s:

Make one, wear one: Don’t forget to stop at the nametag kiosk as you enter and leave church. Greetings are much more memorable with names!

Families and children, we need YOU! Before we hire a teacher and develop curriculum, we’d love to get input from both parents and children –your hopes and dreams– for the Christian Education program that will begin next fall. Join us for a brainstorming conversation this Sunday. The children will have their session with Father Marcus, and the adults will meet with Marcy Wegner, Vestry liaison from the Faith Formation Commission. Meet us outside the nursery at 9:15am , then we’ll split into our two groups. Doughnuts and other goodies will be provided.

Pentecost Party! The Faith Formation Commission will be hosting our next intergenerational education event after the liturgy in the Undercroft. There will be crafts, activities, and treats for all ages. P.S. Don’t forget to wear RED!

Thank you to the Altar Guild for hosting coffee hour. Next week:the Parish Life Commission.

Groveland Food Shelf accepts Saint Paul’s donations on a weekly basis, as part of our Outreach offering to the community. Please bring food and personal care items to church and place them in the baskets at the Narthex doors. June’s theme is CONDIMENTS (ketchup, mustard, BBQ sauce, mayo, etc.), but any other non-perishable items are always welcome. Thanks to Carol Shorrock for delivering our donation this month.

Hospitality 101: Hello, My Name Is…
If you’ve been to Sunday liturgies the past few weeks, you may have noticed the return of the name tag board; you might even say it has been “resurrected.” It has returned to help our new rector learn our names, and to create a more intentionally welcoming environment for people visiting our parish. If you haven’t already, please make a name tag when you next arrive at church, wear it during services and coffee hours, and then hang it under the initial of your last name so you can find it next week.

Choir Diary

For the Feast of Pentecost, Jacob and Monte have composed a Pentecost Soundscape to begin and end our liturgy. You needn’t be able to read notes to participate, so do join us at 9:15 am to pitch in!

  • Soundscape: “And suddenly from heaven there came a sound…
  • “Anthem: Stetit Iesus (Jacobus Handl)
  • Anthem: My master from a garden rose (Eleanore Daley)
  • Voluntary: Grand chorus with thunder (Michel Corette)
  • Prayer Calendar:

In the Anglican Cycle of Prayer, we pray for the Anglican Church in North East India.

In the Diocesan Cycle of Prayer, we pray for all academic graduates, educational institutions, and for the specialized chaplaincies in those institutions. Remember especially ECMN’s School for Formation, Breck School, and Shattuck-St. Mary’s; their chaplains; University Episcopal Community; and all those who work with campus ministries. We also pray for the parishes of the Holy Apostles (Saint Paul) and Saint Columba (White Earth).

On our Parish Prayer List, we pray for Alex, Bea, Bob, Gary and Sue, Harvey, Jimmy and Kim, Joan, John, Krista, Mary, Nancy, Ruth, Sue, Susan, Thomas, Weldon, and the Coopergard, Harshmann, Paulson, and Solstad families.
