This Sunday at Saint Paul’s:
The Patronal Festival of Saint Paul will be celebrated on 28 January. This is a great time to get to know the man, the myth, and the legend for whom our parish is named. Following the liturgy, please plan on staying for the Annual Meeting of Saint Paul’s Church. You are invited to elect parish leadership, bear witness to 2017 commission reports, and celebrate the year gone by.
Joyce Uptown Food Shelf receives Saint Paul’s weekly donations. January’s theme is CANNED FRUITS AND VEGETABLES, but other items are welcome. Please bring items to church as part of your weekly offering, and place in the baskets at the Narthex doors.
Thank you to the Ministers in Liturgy for hosting Coffee Hour this week; next week, the Parish Life Commission.
The January Rector’s Forum will be a time to learn more about the various partners in mission supported by our Outreach Commission. Join us in the Undercroft at 11:30am to hear from our partners at Temple Israel, Downtown Congregations Ending Homelessness, Open Arms of MN, Joyce Uptown Food Shelf, and more. A great opportunity to connect with a project that moves your heart!
The Vestry Nominating Committee has been formed and is beginning to identify a slate of candidates for our 2018 Vestry. Please read the Committee’s action plan, and prayerfully consider how you might support Saint Paul’s governance.
ECMN’s Lay Leadership Day is approaching! Want to boost your impact as a lay contributor at Saint Paul’s? Save Saturday 17 February for a day of networking, skill building, and information from the School of Formation. Check the event website for details.
Another update for your address book: As of the new year, Father Marcus has changed his cell phone number to 612.816.7253; his former number is no longer in service.
Open Office Hours are moving to Wednesday mornings from 10:00am-1:00pm through Pentecost. They will also be “on the move,” rotating through a few coffee shops around Minneapolis. For the month of January, you are invited to join our Rector at Spyhouse Coffee (he even promises to buy you a cuppa). As always, if you need to schedule a confidential meeting, you can call the church or email Father Marcus directly.
In the Anglican Cycle of Prayer, we pray for the Church of Bangladesh.
In the Diocesan Cycle of Prayer, we pray for youth ministries within the Episcopal Church in Minnesota, especially for those who are involved with Teens Encounter Christ; for the new ministry, Circle of the Beloved; and all those in our faith community who are involved with faith formation ministries with children, youth, and young adults. We also pray for the parishes of Saint Paul (Brainerd, Duluth, Minneapolis, Owatonna, Virginia, Winona).
On our Parish Prayer List, we pray for Alex, Bob, Gary, Gary and Sue, Harvey, Hazel, Jennie Beth, Joan, John, Krista, Laura, Mary, Nancy, Natalia, Pat and Steve, Richard, Shirley, Sue, Susan, Thomas, and the Coopergard and Paulson families.
